Amy Cashman grew up in California and holds an Associates of Science degree and an Accounting Certificate. She is currently enrolled in the MORCA-Georgetown Paralegal Program. Amy has worked in a variety of jobs, including customer service, bartending, and administrative and accounting positions. She hopes to advance her professional career as a researcher in the legal field. Amy took the Negotiation Works course through the Georgetown Paralegal Program and decided to join NW as an Ambassador because she believes negotiating is a useful skill, hopes to meet others who have similar interests, and wants to advance her own negotiation abilities. Amy enjoys being a Negotiation Works Ambassador because she likes the platform, the activities, and the NW community.
Damon Donelson-Bey grew up in Northeast D.C. He attended public school through the tenth grade and then received his GED in 1999 while he was incarcerated. He was a fellow in the Georgetown Pivot Program, where he took the Negotiation Works class, and he completed an internship with Project Community Capital. Damon became a Negotiation Works Ambassador because he wanted to develop more effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Damon appreciates his role as a Negotiation Works Ambassador because he likes learning the art of negotiation and sharing his skills with others.
Alexis Green grew up in Southeast D.C. and Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Aleixs received a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Real Estate and Mass Communications at the University of Maryland while concurrently studying at the New York Institute of Art & Design as a Designer. After participating in the Negotiation Works class as a Fellow with the Georgetown Pivot Program in 2022, Alexis was eager to be an Ambassador to collaborate with the Negotiation Works team. She also “derives immense joy from listening to success stories of how negotiation has positively impacted the lives of others” and is excited to apply her communications skills to help advance Negotiation Works’ mission.
Charles Hopkins grew up in Southeast D.C. He received his A.A. degree in political science from Coppin State College. Charles worked as a residential social worker for Veterans on the Rise, and he also completed Georgetown’s Pivot Program, where he took the Negotiation Works class. He enjoys working with the other Negotiation Works Ambassadors because this allows them to exchange ideas, brainstorm about how to expand the Negotiation Works brand, and help others see the value in utilizing negotiation.
Curtis Patterson was born and raised in Washington D.C. He attended H.D. Woodson Senior High School. While incarcerated he earned his GED and studied VT Carpentry, VT Cabinetry, ServSafe Management, as well as participating in programs devoted to developing leadership and mentoring skills. More recently, Curtis attended ThriveDC which is a work readiness program for returning citizens. Curtis just graduated from the Georgetown University Pivot program where he took the Negotiation Works course as part of his studies. Curtis is currently interning with the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD). Curtis networks at events on behalf of DSLBD and assists with various projects from food waste management to BIZ OPPS (business opportunities for small and local businesses). Curtis would like to work for a local business that does community engagement in order to provide resources to the community.
Andre Pendleton grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Bowie State University. Andre previously worked for D.E.N. United Construction, where he served as a concrete finisher. He currently works as an Advocacy Specialist for Miriam's Kitchen, an organization dedicated to ending chronic homelessness in Washington, D.C. Andre joined Negotiation Works’ Ambassador program because he valued the opportunity to continue his involvement with NW and share perspectives with previous and future cohorts. Andre enjoys being a Negotiation Works Ambassador because he likes learning from others' perspectives and working together to develop constructive ideas for community building. He took the Negotiation Works course through the Georgetown University Prison and Justice Initiative.
Katarina Popovic grew up in Belgrade, Serbia. She has worked professionally as a nurse, teacher, artist, and information technology professional. Katarina recently graduated from a program at Marymount University in Arlington, VA where she received a CompTIA certification, and she is seeking a new career in the medical IT industry. After taking the Negotiation Works course with Together We Bake, Katarina joined the Ambassador program to help others, and especially youth, develop better communication skills and successfully advocate for themselves. As an Ambassador, Katarina enjoys the community of like-minded and passionate individuals dedicated to making the world a better place.
Herbert Robinson grew up in DC's Ward 5 Brookland neighborhood. He graduated from Cornell Abraxas High School in 2000. He is currently a social justice prison reform advocate for Growing Pain Solutions.org. Herbert completed the Negotiation Works course as part of Georgetown University's Pivot Program Cohort 6. He enjoys being a Negotiation Works Ambassador because of the skill set he can learn, develop, and share with others, and because he believes the tools taught by Negotiation Works benefit communities.
Shannon Sisney grew up in Roundup, Montana. Shannon is a graduate of the Georgetown Pivot Program, The French Institute, and Montana State University. She is currently an Associate at LINK Strategic Partners. She is also the Founder of Full Circle creations and has served as an Esthetician and Physician’s Assistant at Change For Life Wellness and Aesthetics. Shannon participated in the Negotiation Works course as a member of the Georgetown University Pivot Program and then chose to become an Ambassador because the information and education she received in class moved her and changed her life. Understanding the power of the lessons she learned about negotiation and self-advocacy, Shannon hopes to give the same powers to others. She appreciates that the Ambassadors program allows her to share valuable skills and know that she is making a difference in the lives of others.
Kia Terry grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. After leaving high school, she attended nursing school. Kia works as a certified nursing assistant and as an armed security guard. Although she dropped out of high school at an early age, she pursued and obtained her diploma through adult continuing education. Currently, she is continuing her studies at NOVA in the field of criminal justice. As a young mother, Kia joined the National Head Start Policy Council to help improve resources available to the children in her community. Kia took training at the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) through which she met delegates at the state legislature and once again advocated on behalf of children. She is on the Alexandria Redevelopment Board and Housing Association (ARHA) to ensure that residents in her community have a voice in how funds are spent. Kia took Negotiation Works training as part of the Together We Bake training program over the Winter of 2021. As a Negotiation Works Ambassador, she plans to use her training to further her efforts in the community. A mother of three, Kia continues her advocacy efforts and uses her negotiation skills to be a more effective advocate for herself, her children, and others in the community.
Lossou Wallace grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. Lossou's mother ensured that he and his two siblings received an excellent education, despite their circumstances. His career aspiration is to become a real estate agent for commercial properties in the DMV area. Lossou attended the Negotiation Works program at Georgetown's Pivot program and became an Ambassador because he wanted to be a part of an amazing team with a mission bigger than himself in order to impact a large number of people. He enjoys being a Negotiation Works Ambassador because he can discuss whatever he wants without feeling judged.
Salem Woldeamanuel grew up in the city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has an Associate’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor's degree in Management, and she is currently expanding her horizons by pursuing studies in IT. Salem boasts an impressive 15+ years of experience in banking and finance.
Salem joined the Negotiation Works Ambassadors program as a way to share her personal growth story. She passionately believes that this course has not only guided her through life's challenges but also equipped her with the invaluable skill of negotiation, which permeates every facet of our daily lives.
What truly resonates with Salem as a Negotiation Works Ambassador is the opportunity to inspire others with her experiences. She revels in demonstrating how this course has empowered her to achieve her goals without resorting to aggression or detriment to others. Salem is living proof that negotiation can be a force for positive change, and she's here to share that wisdom with others in the community.
